  What is a session like?

A typical reiki session lasts about an hour. The practitioner begins by placing her hands in seven basic positions that cover your head, shoulders, stomach, and back. The practitioner holds each position from two to five minutes and then may target the specific areas of the body where you are experiencing pain or discomfort. Reiki is usually done while you lie a table face up with your practitioner starting behind your head.
During or after a reiki session, people have describe experiencing varied sensations from tingling to a warming or glowing feeling, as well as feelings of peace and well-being. Some may feel nothing specific, just relaxation, while others may experience an intense and cathartic emotional release.
At the very least, expect to feel wonderfully relaxed, calm and refreshed as though you had just taken a bit of a nap

.

What ailments respond to reiki treatment?

People have used reiki to help treat everything from the flu, to anxiety, heart disease, depression, bi-polar conditions, colic in babies, chronic stress related illness etc. to assisting with colds and feeling run down. Research is now showing many positive benefits of energy work through study groups.

Reiki is not meant to be used in lieu of traditional medical care;
its practioners promote it as a helpful alternative in assisting to minimize the side effects of other treatments, reducing pain, and speeding the healing process. Reiki can also be used preventively to reduce stress and tension. Some people include regular reiki sessions as part of their overall wellness regimen.

Do children respond well to reiki?

a resounding YES ! I personally have used Reiki with my daughter in the NICU when she was born prematurely. Reiki provided a wonderful way to assist her with her pnuemonia, respiritory weakness and tachycardia. Even with the great medical help she received,( and her nursing team was beyond FABULOUS ) her Dr.'s were amazed at her rapid recovery and substantial weight gain in the first 2 weeks of life. I constantly heard from the nursing staff at Good Samaritan Childrens Hospital, how surprised and happy they were at how quickly her health improved.

She is 8 1/2 now and has been learning to use Reiki on a daily basis herself. It helps us both maintain a happier and connected relationship. She finds it an easy way to release frustrations and anger when it occurs. Well, we
both do.
Much to my joy and ..... benefit!

 Attunements

There is no previous training or experience required. This technique can be taught to anyone. The seminars involve an alignment to Reiki through a Reiki attunement process where the student is aligned,  This alignment or attunement is permanent. During the seminar you will recieve a  hands-on session, information on the nature and the  history of Reiki.

When a student of Reiki is attuned permanently at Reiki degree 1 they are shown how to apply and use the energy for themselves and to share with others. The Reiki energy is motivated to flow to where it’s required the most. The life force goes to the basic issue of disharmony and continues throughout the system to allow harmony, health and balance to begin to flow easily.

I would be happy to share more information with anyone who is interested in learning more. feel free to email me at kelleylmt1@aol.com  or kelley@tmtmassage.com

Mikao Usui

What is reiki?

Reiki  is a gentle and highly effective
touch activated technique for, relaxation, inner-peace, natural health, and well-being.
The word reiki comes from two Japanese words,
" rei " meaning higher power and
" ki " meaning life energy.
Each of us has this ability to use this life force.

Although healing touch has been used for thousands of years, today what is considered reiki, originated in the 1880s when a Buddhist monk named Mikao Usui went on a quest to rediscover the divine healing methods used by Jesus Christ and Buddha.

Usui discovered the true formula of Reiki in a 25 hundred year old Sanskrit Sutra text in a monastery.
Reiki is a gentle, non invasive, safe and natural energy therapy. Reiki works on all realms; physically, mentally, spiritually and supports the body's own ability to heal itself. This system is highly effective for many disharmonies and dis-eases in our bodies, our minds, and our spirits or souls.

Reiki is NOT a cure all and is to be utilized in conjunction with medical treatments. Please inform your practitioner when your under the care of your primary physician for a specific condition.

When the practice of reiki was first introduced to Western cultures, it underwent a few changes. Some innovations included the use of specific hand positions, establishment of a "degree system" to certify the practitioners, and acceptance of the idea that a person can be compensated for performing reiki.
Reiki has continued to evolve, and there are now many modified versions which all derive from the same source.

How does it work?

Reiki is based on the assumption that unseen energy, ki , flows through all living things along pathways in the body called "meridians."
When the flow of ki is blocked or disrupted , inbalances occur resulting in physical and emotional health related issues. Unchecked, these issues can lead to adverse health conditions.
The client remains fully clothed while sitting in a chair or lying down on a massage table. There is no physical manipulation of the body in anyway. A reiki practitioner works by gently putting her hands on the body in several specific positions.

These positions are along the pathways or meridians that carry the ki energy to major organs. The flow of positive reiki energy from practitioner to patient is helpful for correcting imbalances and restoring the healthy dynamics of the person's life force.
